The [ȓə 'njuː 'mɑːsɪs], 1926 in den USA als Nachfolgerin von »The Masses« (1911-18, herausgegeben von M. Eastman) und »The Liberator« (1918-24) entstandene kulturkritische Zeitschrift. Im Verlauf der Verschärfung der sozialen Spannungen in der Depressionszeit entwickelte sie sich zu einem wichtigen Forum radikaler politischer und kultureller Diskussion. In den 40er-Jahren schwand ihr Einfluss, 1948 ging sie in einer neuen marxistischen Publikation (»Masses and Mainstream«) auf.
